Okay guys help me out here. I am looking to broaden my horizons and find new bands. Maybe I have missed one throught out the years.

Don't worry about being like everyone esle and giving the same answers. If you like a band just post it.

Here are my picks:

1. Firehouse
2. Slaughter
3. Def Leopard
4. White Snake
5. Poison

There are more but these are my top 5. Help me out here. What do you like in the 80's hair bands? Ballads, guitar rockin', solo's, ect.

Thanx.

My favorite bands in the 80s (in no particular order) was
1. Skynyrd
2. Styx
3. Van Halen
4. ZZ Top
5. 38 Special
There were several other Southern Rock bands that I was into as well.

As far as bands that you might or might not have heard of, have you ever heard of a band called Petra? They had a career that spanned 33 years, culminating in a farewell album/tour in 2005. They had a CD in 2003 called Jekyll & Hyde with a distinct heavy metal flavor. Cool

They were indeed a hair band, but in the top 5? What is the top 5, the best sounding out of that era, or the most over-the-top, ridiculous fluffy one's? Smile

I was into Ratt, Dokken, Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, Scorpions, etc... They just weren't my top five so I didn't list them.

Anyway. No response on Petra yet. Anyone ever check them out? Cool

Some of Petra's stuff is pretty badass. Underneath The Blood and Midnight Oil being my two favorites from them.

Also love Striper, Whitecross, Bride & Guardian.

Okay, so I am only 30 and that "pop" crap really invaded in the late 80's. And I have to admit by the time I was old enough to really apresicate what all these great artists were doing I discovered Slaughter. And besides you listen to Slaughter with you want to get the girl, right? You know you did so don't lie. LOL

And because I am 30 I did not discover other bands until recently so I don't know the history of these bands you guys listed. All great bands by the way.

I am learning to know what to apresicate. Idea

Thanx, guys.

My bad! My point was just that I was into a lot of stuff back then, so I was just listing my top five at that time. Cool
